Comet 5 White Light Scanning System
With it’s multiple measuring volumes and automated scanning, Steinbichler Comet 5 white light 3d scanning system has taken the 3D scanning / digitizing process to a new level.
The combination of the proven one-camera-technique and the newly developed projection technology guarantees high-speed measurements as well as excellent data quality. COMET 5 completes all measurements fast and accurately and is therefore ideally suited for efficient use in quality control next to the production line. The rigid construction of the system is extremely stable which allows the system to be operated in a wide temperature range and the high-power external light source further improves the system temperature stability. The system thereby guarantees a high reproducibility of the highly accurate measurement results, in addition to having the advantage of minimizing the need for system recalibration. The modular design allows for quick and easy adaptation of the system to the measurement volume required by the application and thereby offers the maximum of configuration flexibility for each individual measurement task. With the new COMET 5 sensor, Steinbichler Optotechnik is presenting a system perfectly fitting the steadily growing application requirements from the industry, in particular for product development and quality control. This is enabling the data acquisition in the digitization process to be completed in 1/6 th. of the time which is a deciding advantage when measuring in rough industrial environments prone to vibration.
Faro Arm Laser Scanner

Imetric 3D Photogrammetry
The ICam Photogrammetry systems are high-accuracy portable CMM’s. They can be used to determine the 3D coordinates of targets, of points materialized with adapters as well as of features. The system is extremely portable, i.e. the measurement system comes to the work piece. The ease of use, flexibility, speed, and accuracy unsurpassed. Even very large objects like ships and bridges can be measured.
The system consists of a camera, coded and un-coded targets, scale bars and for certain applications various adapters. For the measurement the points of interest are targeted. Adapters are placed in holes and other reference locations such as edges. Finally coded targets are attached and the scale bars are placed. Then a set of images is acquired with the digital camera. These are typically transferred to a computer for processing. The software will detect the coded and non-coded targets, compute the orientation of all the images, label the non-coded targets, compute precise 3D coordinates together with the calibration of the camera, and perform the scaling as well as transformation into the coordinate system of the part. The coordinate system can be defined in a number of ways, either using a 3-2-1 alignment, reference values for the targets or adapters, or geometric primitive elements. The data can be used for an inspection and comparison to CAD, deformation or movement analysis, and crash test investigation. It is a perfect tool for part placement repeatability studies. High accuracy target networks can be provided for scanning systems.
