Casted Part Studies

Previous Casted Part Work

Casted parts are used in a variety of industries. Castings can be made in many different ways but it is important that the cast is made accurately. This is because many casted parts get machined. Thus, machining allowances must be created into the cast. These machining allowances are an excess of material called stock. There must be enough stock left on the part for machining to be completed. However, too much stock could create extra costs by using more material than necessary. Similar to our other work we are able to create dimensional analysis reports as well as reverse engineer legacy parts.

Conveniently located in the metro Detroit area of Michigan. Please contact us with any questions you have regarding our automotive work via our contact form or call us at (248) 853-7700.

Engine Cylinder Inspection

While Dimensional inspection can be a great benefit prior to the production of engines, it is time-consuming and cumbersome. In order to reduce weight, small motorcycle engines are made from aluminum by a process called die casting. Die casting uses typically aluminum, in a low-pressure mold or gravity mold. In a low-pressure mold, the liquid aluminum is kept in a holding tank below the cast. After it is melted, it is then sent upward into the cast using… read more
